About the venue
Built by Furano City and managed and operated by the Furano Engeki Kobo, it opened in October 2000 as Japan's first publicly funded, privately-run theater. From the design stage, author So Kuramoto, professional lighting and sound engineers, actors and others were involved, making this a "theater for creators" that embodied the ideals of creators.
Based on Kuramoto's advice that "multipurpose is as close as you can get to purposeless," the theater is specialized in theatrical production functions.
The stage space is larger than the audience seating (302 seats) and is equipped with all the facilities necessary for creators, such as a prop production room (workshop), costume room, rehearsal room and green room (salon for performers and staff), creating an environment where artists can fully unleash their imagination.
ACCESS
- 15 minutes by car from JR Furano Station
- If you are coming by car, an attendant will guide you to the free parking lot inside the theater.
